April 9. Some rain during the night and early this morning, but not as much as we expected. As I was getting ready for our bi-monthly trip to Charlotte, I happened to think of my shoes. Water leaks in through the soles of the ones I wear most of the time, and my other walking shoes were in the suitcase in our van which Christy had taken to work today. So Daddy drove me over to Christy’s workplace where I found my shoes. Those are what I wore to Charlotte; but, as it turned out, the rain stopped, and I wouldn’t even have needed them. Oh, well. It took us a little less than a half hour to get to Connected Kids and back. Then I had about a half hour to finish getting ready to go. Had to take the rest of my breakfast with me in the car. There was lots of traffic today; and just when we got to the exit for TJ’s, traffic was stopped. Must have been an accident down the line somewhere. We were thankful we were getting off at that exit. After TJ’s, we headed for Dr. Schulman’s. We were a little early so Daddy parked at Neighborhood Walmart where he checked for water. Connie and I walked over to Dr. Schulman’s office, and Daddy drove around when he was done. There was no water (that we wanted to buy) at that WalMart. From Charlotte, headed home via SC where Daddy filled Christy’s car with gas and filled his mug with coffee. After we arrived home and Daddy had brought in the groceries, he went off to Subway to get some lunch, and I rearranged the fridge and freezer to make room for the groceries. After getting everything put away, I fixed a little lunch for myself. This afternoon, Daddy put up curtain rod hardware on the kitchen windows, and I hung the curtains. Praise the Lord for His help and safety today. Also for His help in finishing the shawl for Beth. “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29 There are some things the LORD has not revealed unto us. Those are secret things that belong unto the LORD. The things that the LORD has revealed belong unto us and we are to be obedient to His words. April 10. Slept in a little later this morning. Up around 6:30 for shower. Spent the first part of the morning packing up my, and some of our, belongings to take to the prophets’ chamber tomorrow. Wrote one e-mail and started another. Then it was time to head out to Dr. Cook’s. After that, we stopped at the city hall to pay the utility bill, but they wouldn’t take visa so we’ll mail in a check. Next was banking business, and then WalMart to get water and a couple other little things. Saw the Scruggs at WM and talked with them for a while. Last of all, we drove over to Morning Star to find out where the prophets’ chamber is so we’ll know where to go in the morning. Talked a bit with Scott Wood who was working outside the church. This afternoon, I finished the other e-mail I started this morning and packed up some of our food. “11For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. 12It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.” Deuteronomy 30:11-14 Praise God, His word is not hidden from us, and it is not far off. His word is in our mouths and in our hearts and in the wonderful book called the Bible, and we have no excuse for not obeying God’s word.
