Lewis says to thank all of you who have been praying for him. God is good (always) and continues to watch over him, meet his needs, and keep him well. On Sunday night, they had the hardest rainfall ever. It rained so hard that people went around to each other’s houses to make sure everyone was okay and that no landslides had carried any houses away. Landslides are common in PNG during rainy season, especially with heavy rain, and some of the people’s houses are built on hillsides. Even the topsoil on the airstrip didn’t get washed away which often happens in rainy season causing deep ruts all over the airstrip.
The day after the big rain, the Lord sent them a day of welcome sunshine, the first since Lewis has been there. When I talked with him yesterday (it was already Thursday morning there), he said the skies had cleared off overnight, and they were expecting sunshine again. Praise the Lord for giving sunshine, and please keep praying. The Lord answered prayer regarding the youth meetings as well. They met twice a day for five days, hearing teaching in the morning on choosing a marriage partner and in the afternoon lessons in wisdom from the book of Proverbs. On the last day, the youth wanted an extra meeting in the evening so they could give testimonies and have a fellowship meal. Lewis said there were a lot of good testimonies (some from parents) telling how much the lessons helped to answer many questions for them. The meeting lasted 2 ½ hours, and the fellowship meal followed so it was 11:00 p.m. before they were through. In the week of teaching, they didn’t even get through the first chapter in the book on marriage, and there are five (I think) more chapters besides. Amos and Mike will continue with the teaching of those lessons later. The New Year meetings will begin tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. (about 5:00 p.m. today NC time). They will be meeting together at 8:00 each morning and 4:00 each afternoon from Friday the 30th through Wednesday, January 4, and Lewis will be preaching all the meetings. Then on Thursday, there will be a big day of feasting and fellowship together. Please be much in prayer for these meetings, that the Lord will meet needs in the hearts of the believers, and that souls will be saved. Lewis has also been preaching every Sunday morning and afternoon since he has been there. Two weeks from Saturday, Lord willing, Lewis should arrive back home. Again we thank you for all your prayers, and ask you to please keep on praying. Thanks for your part in helping with our ministry among the Owena people. Joyfully serving, The Youngs
