March 14. Didn’t feel quite as tired last night so didn’t go to bed until around 10:00. Was awake well before 6:00, however. My back wasn’t letting me sleep. Finally got up just about 6:00, got washed up, and got dressed. Went downstairs and had quiet time and breakfast. It was still quiet down there as the Clarks weren’t down yet. They had had a call from Nathan (friend and brother in Christ) so were talking with him for quite a while. Around 8:30 we headed for Bro. Snyder’s place. Stopped at a gas station first, and Bro. Clark filled our tank with gas. Bro. Snyder lives in an assisted living place. He was so happy to see us. We enjoyed a good visit with him. His mind isn’t real good, but he is still able to do carpentry, his trade for many years. He has made just about all the furniture they ever had. His specialty was building kitchens and he used to make hundreds of thousands of dollars building kitchens for millionaires. There is a workshop there at the assisted living place where he spends a lot of time. That is his therapy. He helps repair things for the home there and also makes things that he sells. He says his hands still know how to work even though his mind doesn’t work good. He had trophies all over his walls of animals he had hunted in different parts of the world – deer, moose, longhorn sheep, angora goat, and many others. We had Bro. Clark take a picture of Daddy and me with Bro. Snyder. Then Bro. Clark led us to 295 which took us to 64 and on our way to Newport News to see Martha, Lewis’ sister. Arrived at Martha’s around noon. Spent some time catching up on family news. Had a little lunch. Then went over to Jan’s house for a nap. For some reason I was really tired again today. Could not make myself wake up. Slept for an hour and a half. Then we went back to Martha’s for a short time before coming back to Jan’s for supper -- chicken, mashed potatoes, spinach salad, green beans, cranberry sauce, with apple pie for dessert. Enjoyed sitting around talking with Jan and Martha in the evening. “And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” Luke 3:6 March 15. Was up around 7:00 this morning for shower and quiet time. It was about 8:30 when we sat down to breakfast. Jan had fixed waffles which I enjoyed with strawberries and bananas and boysenberry syrup. About mid-morning, we went over to Martha’s. And a little while after that Jan’s sister Lola came and we went off to shop at the Goodwill discount shop. In that place everything (almost) is sold by the pound, but you have to pick through the bins to find what you may want. Things that have been in the retail Goodwill for a while but haven’t been bought are taken over to the discount room and sold there. We ended up with two shopping carts full of things. Then there are all the things that Martha gave us so our car is full of stuff to find a place for when we get home. Had just a bowl of soup for lunch after we got back to Martha’s. Then Martha put me to sleep on her bed. I had no idea that I had slept so long; but when I got up, it was already 4:00. I went down to the car and got my crocheting so I would have something to do while I was sitting there talking. Somewhere around 6:00, we had supper -- baked salmon, sweet potato, spinach. “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
