May 8. Robin babies are nine days old today. Getting cute and looking more like robins. Today’s business included Daddy’s and my work of cleaning out the bathroom sink and tub drains; getting this past week’s journal notes ready and sent off to Connie; printing monthly updates and corresponding envelopes and giving them to Connie to stuff, stamp, seal, and send; preparing updates to e-mail and sending those; resizing Luke 9-16. Sat outside for a while after supper before it got too cool out. It only got up to about 71 or 72º today and is cooling down quickly. “Invisible” mosquitoes bit me on the same place on each hand. And how they do itch! Ugh! “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” James 1:19 Lord, help me to be a good listener, to weigh carefully my words before I speak, to be slow in becoming angry. May 9. Warm and muggy, but cool in the house because the sun is overhead now and doesn’t shine through the windows. (Our house faces north and south) All the baby birds have flown away now -- only ten days old. I didn’t know they would grow up so quickly. I’m glad I got one last picture yesterday morning. Cooked fish this morning to go with my grains. Did laundry and put fresh sheets on the bed. There were just a few updates to prepare and e-mail out. Then Daddy and I went to Verizon to pay the phone bill, to Hobby Lobby to get a gift card for Christy’s birthday, to the Got Books store to sell some of C&C’s books (they are taking a very limited number because of too much over-stock so the girls only got $10), to Big Lots to get a few food items, and to the thrift store to get rid of the rest of the books. It was almost lunch time when we got back home. Spent a little time on the Scripture print file and finished that up this afternoon. Praise the Lord, that is all re-sized. After nap, I got the laundry down and dawdled a bit outside in the sunshine while I folded sheets and pillow cases. Praise the Lord for fresh air and sunshine. When the resizing of the Scripture print file was done, I printed out a copy of the Gospel of John, and, Lord willing, we will begin checking that soon. Wanted to sit outside this evening; but yesterday evening, I got huge welts from the mosquito bites so will wait until we get something to repel those critters before sitting out again. “22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves…. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” James 1:22,25 Lord, help me always to be a doer of that which I hear and not to deceive myself. May I not forget that which I hear, but do the work You want me to do, that I may rejoice in Your blessing.
